This ostrich was taken on safari by Safari Kay in South Africa, 2008.

A most likely pet this bird, an ostrich, is not too common here in the U.S. That said, there was an ostrich farm about two blocks from me for several years. However it has been deserted for a year, maybe two. I believe they were raising them possibly for ostrich feathers.

Ostrich feathers make for excellent feather dusters and at one time were quite valuable. Maybe they still are – I haven’t checked lately.
